JAMAL RUHE

Jamal Ruhe - Engineer

Jamal had the good luck to be born the year Innervisions, Dark Side of the Moon, Let’s Get It On and Quadrophenia were released. Daddy was a studio owner, momma was a music teacher. Jamal's first jobs were all in the studio. Running cables to iso booths, running errands and assisting in the refurbishment of the Helios board in the studio his father was a partner in. He had the good luck of starting a band that would record a debut Timothy White of Billboard would later call, “Dazzling… one of my favorite albums of all time.” He also had the bad luck to have that recording shelved in a label shake up. He’s had the good luck to work on recordings at Ardent, Capitol, and Manhattan Center Studios among others, and the good luck to meet Alan Douches at the corner coffee shop!

An act of kismet (in Jamal's opinion anyway) put Alan and Jamal on a collision course and West West Side Music had a new ingredient. Though they both have individual tastes, right from that first chance meeting, they seemed to agree on so many things.

Jamal loves working on the music he knows... Rock, Hip Hop, Metal, Techno, Dub, Hardcore, Indie Rock, Americana, Pop and just about anything you can put up on a set of speakers. He has lived many lives in the world of music and has worked behind live and studio consoles as well as shared stages with a wide variety of artists. In no order, some names you might recognize include:
